The Voice in Our Heads...

"Why are they looking at me? Am I looking good? Why haven't they called me yet? I don't know this. Wait, am I jealous? Do I have enough money for that? I hate that person so much! I hope they notice me today."

And that was just a short list of everything that we usually say to ourselves in our minds, every single day. Every people who are capable to think has approximately 50,000 to 70,000 thoughts per day. That's like 35 to 48 thoughts per minute! Our brain is so powerful, *shoulder taps ourselves*.

With that much thoughts a day, it would be great if we would all think of positive things and about stuffs that truly matter, but welcome to the world, where we constantly bombard our minds with uninterested stuffs and thoughts that crowd our mind with negativity and pessimism.

This post is mostly dedicated to my overthinking fellows out there, who goes to bed with the world problems weighing on their minds. Do not get me wrong, it is good to think, hell I wish sometimes people knew how to use their brain and think before they speak.

But one thing I learned is, OVERTHINKING KILLS! It may not kill you instantly like a bullet to your chest, but it consumes your mind and kill you slowly and painfully, just like smoking!

Now I know this because I am an expert over-thinker. If I had a dime every time I overthink, I would be buying a whole island right now, with its residents. A common example of my overthinking skills: if my friend did not call me when they said they would have, then it's definitely because they have been either kidnapped or worst even, murdered. And trust me, it is not fun to be the one thinking about this. Another example is when someone has not come home yet and it's getting dark and the reason is definitely because they have been eaten by werewolves or they ran away to another country and changed their names. But that's what we do, everyday, all the time, we overthink over the smallest of things that do not really matter.

We tend to overthink everything and stress for nothing. We have become a nervous population who just think, think, think, think and think about the worst case scenarios. Now granted, we live in a time where the worst things are happening, wars between countries, hunger strikes, gun attacks, genocides, illegal manifestations against everything. And this proves that we truly are not really protected.

But the one thing that we can protect is our mind. Our minds belong to us and is filled with what we want it to be filled with. Do we want happy thoughts that make us smile all day long? Or do we want sad depressing thoughts and go to sleep like the world is crushing on us? The decision lies in our hands.

It is good to think about the bad stuffs sometimes, but unless you are up to taking actions to change those bad situations, it is useless you waste your time thinking about something that stresses you till you become sick. Actions speak louder than the voice in your head!

So unless you are trying to find solutions for the problems in the world, stop overthinking!

Take time to meditate and calm your mind. If your friend has not call you, then maybe it is because they were busy and they will call you when they are free. But if it has been two days, then you might want to issue a search warrant. Okay, enough of me ranting about overthinking for today.

The bottom line is, think but don't overthink.
