If anyone knows me, then they know that I love coffee. Black coffee, Espresso, Cappuccino, Macchiato, Lattes, Irish coffee, Affogato, Mocha, Americano, Iced coffee, you name it all, I drink it all! I've been to a lot of coffee shops in Mauritius and this gave me the idea to write on the best ones, well at least some of my favs. So let's dive into the coffee world of Mauritius...
L'arabica
Located at Bagatelle, L'arabica offers a coffee escapade in the middle of all the fast food outlets. It is indeed a cozy area for all those looking to grab a quick sandwich, pastry, coffee, or milkshake. The smiling staffs always make you feel welcomed and the more you go there, the more you want to drown yourself in their varied range of drinks. Even being in the middle of a bustling shopping mall, L'arabica succeeds at making you feel at home with their great service and delicious coffee.
Café De La Presse
Leaving Bagatelle, we stop right in the middle of Port Louis, at Rue La Chaussée, where just a few stairs up, you enter into a world of appetizing coffees, delicious meals, an abundunt array of choices to mix and taste, the world of Café De La Presse. The place mostly benefits in making clients forget that they're in the capital of Mauritius due to its relaxing atmosphere, fresh air, and polite staffs. Moreover, you cannot leave Café De La Presse without taking at least one picture posing in front of its white on black capital letters of the brand. Café De La Presse has everything going for itself, good food, great coffee, unforgettable name, the only thing we want now is for it to be opened all the time.
PAUL
And we're back at Bagatelle, this time stopping right at PAUL: l'art de vivre à la française. With its variety of menus, drinks, and pastries, the coffee shop succeeds at capturing the Mauritian's heart with their unique French style cuisine. The Café took a bet by mixing its high-class approach, its unique décor, its welcoming staffs, and its delicious French menus and it all blends perfectly. With their comfortable layout, their awesome wit and courtesy, you are left to feel like you are having the most amazing coffee in Paris. It has been able to position itself as a premium getaway for Mauritians and it will not be surprising if PAUL takes the lead in a few years time. Definitely, a place to check out!
Mugg & Bean
Staying in Bagatelle, a few feet away is Mugg & Bean: Giving you more and more. With a big layout in the food outlet and its mouth-watering display of cakes outside its entrance, it is certainly not a place to be missed. Muffins, coffee, tartlets, cakes, and other irresistible food awaits you. With an incredible design, from the intricate patterns to the large tables, you can host a birthday party, meeting, or any other gatherings. And the coffee shop lives up to its name by offering more than you expected. Just a few bites of its delicious Blackforest and a few sips of its chocolate milkshake and you'll be good for the rest of the day. The food is tasty, hitting all the right notes on palate for an exhilarating taste, truly leaving you wanting more.
Café Lux
Café Lux is maybe the most famous coffee shops in Mauritius and even after numerous visits, countless pictures, and tasting every one of its coffees, the café is still and will always remain as one of my favorites. You can smell the fresh coffee grains whenever you walk by a Café Lux, and it reminds you of the authentic taste of pure coffee. With its appetizing desserts to go along, it certainly knows how to grab the clients' palate. Located almost all over the island, it does offer a cool and relaxing zone for avid readers, social talkers, and budding lovers. Definitely one of my guilty pleasure.
Delibake
And finally we have Delibake, the coffee shop which handcrafts delicious moments. Located in the Air Mauritius Tower in Port Louis and at Ebene, this gem of a place is sure to make you hit Cloud 9 with their delectable foods and pastries. This Café may be less known than the others, but its winning recipe lies in its great layout design, cozy atmosphere, great customer service, and out-of-this-world tasty pastries, coffees, and especially its macarons. With a vintage look, its staffs all dressed in white, and its wide range of coffees and pastries to select from, you are sure to be treated on a delicious adventure. Most recently, its Black Burger made waves on social media and I can't wait to go back there and try a new coffee or pastry.
This post only covered 6 coffee shops in Mauritius while there are still a lot more waiting to be discovered. Do you know other great coffee areas in Mauritius? Share them with us and let's all enjoy good coffee. After all, life is too short for bad coffee.
