As I'm writing this, I realised that I'm not only saying goodbye to 2019 but to a whole decade and I won't lie...it is scary. While I don't know what the next decade has in store for me, I know one thing and that is I'll live the next coming years with everything I've learnt over the last few ones. And with New Year comes the usual New Year Resolutions...
While I've never been one to write plans and goals I want to achieve in the new year, I have decided to switch this up for 2020. No, don't expect me to have unrealistic resolutions such as losing weight, avoiding snacks or trying to get my crush to like me back...but more resolutions about a better life and some inner peace. Let me digress:
While I've never been one to write plans and goals I want to achieve in the new year, I have decided to switch this up for 2020. No, don't expect me to have unrealistic resolutions such as losing weight, avoiding snacks or trying to get my crush to like me back...but more resolutions about a better life and some inner peace. Let me digress:
1. Self Love
My number one goal in my 2020 resolution is to love and respect myself! I can't stress how important it is for people to love themselves no matter their size, body, skin colour, gender, sexuality and more. And here's how you can do that:
i) Take yourself out on dates - nothing beats the moments you spend with yourself and your own thoughts
ii) Pamper yourself with gifts and things that you like
iii) Know that you cannot control what or how others react to you - all you can control is your own reaction
iv) Learn to say no and express how you feel - even if others might disagree with you or might get hurt
v) Focus on the positive side of life - in all situations
2. Choose Happiness
I don't know about you but every time I go through stressful or negative situations, I always try to look at the brighter side of things and choose to be grateful and happy. Maybe it's me being too optimistic or whatever, but I always think that everything happens for a reason and in the end, it all makes sense.
So don't sob silently in a corner when things don't go the way you want, just know that there's something better waiting and choose to be happy...and patient. Great things come to those who wait after all.
3. Broaden My Horizon
My last resolution for the year is to broaden my horizon. It's always great to learn new things and increase your knowledge. I want to always be open for new experiences and adventures because you never know what you might find about yourself or life.
It can be in terms of education, taking up a new passion, learning a new skill, adapting to changing surroundings and more. Always be ready to learn and spread what you have learnt to others as well. Education is only impactful when it is shared.
So here you go, these are my 3 simple resolutions for 2020. And what about you? Have you made your list before entering a new decade or are you just not that type of person? You can also click here for 5 simple steps on how to achieve your goals in 2020!
