Having your heart broken is like getting punctured with a million needles in the chest and you can't do anything about it. Yeah, heartbreak sucks. You feel lazy, you can't sleep or wake up in the morning, you feel useless, you can't face other people or want to go out. You might even cry for no reason sometimes. But heartbreak is the one thing that can actually change your life in unexpected ways.
Trust
"Trust is the glue of life. It’s the most essential ingredient in effective communication. It’s the foundational principle that holds all relationships.” – Stephen R. Covey
This quote from Covey is as powerful as meaningful. Having your heart broken will definitely break your trust. The more your trust gets broken, the more you realize how valuable it is, and the stronger you become. You start realizing that you cannot trust everyone and can spot incoherence in someone's lies. By healing from your heartbreak, you'll be in a better position to know who to trust and why trust is the foundation of a lasting relationship.
New Passions
So what do you do when the other person is gone and you end up having all your weekends free? Well you start discovering new passions and writing down new goals you want to achieve! Maybe you love writing, cooking, or maybe you'll start binge watching TV shows, whatever it is, you now have time for yourself to do what you want, without feeling the need to include someone else. You'll be on your beautiful path to finding yourself.
Learn About Yourself
Heartbreaks will make you dig deep into yourself and understand your own psyche, mind, and emotions. You'll start seeing how you handle your heartbreaks and how you move on. Picking up all the broken pieces of yourself off the ground is the most difficult thing to do, but not impossible! It does take time before you feel completely alright but the journey is definitely one that will make you stronger and more determined.
Survivor Scars
I choose to believe that heartbreaks are beautiful life lessons that we should all get. Not only you become stronger, but you also learn that not everything you want in life will actually happen. That perfect fairy tale you dreamed of with your lover may break and this forces you to accept that life will be full of challenges. Most importantly, you'll wear each heartbreak as a battle scar, show it proudly, and let people know you are strong!
Love Again
As contradictory as it sounds, heartbreaks make us fall in love again. After you get over the constant pain, you'll realize that heartbreak is just temporary and know the true meaning of love. You'll want to meet other people and discover what makes them beautiful and fall in love again. And each person who comes into your life has a different thing to show you, a different story to tell, and the chance to write a different narrative. Heartbreaks do lead to sweet relationships!
The more practice you get at loving people who don't love you back, the more you'll be better at loving those who do.
